    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: The all-white lobby is cool and serene and retains many original Art Deco features from circa 1936, when the Tides was the “Grande Dame” of South Beach. Renovated and re-opened in 1997, the Tides is one of the first stops on the Art Deco tour. Guides point out the original terrazzo floors, the streamlined ocean liner details that include porthole windows with "eyebrows," and the fact that sunbathers who look through the porthole windows on the sundeck get a straight view through the lobby to the beach. Guests include celebrities, entertainment and fashion industry execs, and guests who appreciate comfortable, upscale surroundings and a quiet, private atmosphere.

Amenity highlights: The hotel is right across the street from the ocean and offers guests beach lounge service as well as an outdoor rooftop pool with a bar. A small putting green is located on the 9th floor and guests receive complimentary passes to a nearby health club.

Insider tip: While most visitors head across the street to Lummus Park and the public beach, guests who want a view of multicultural Miami should consider joining the locals at the beach and park area just south of the hotel. One caution: many sunbathers go topless.

Originally built in 1936 with 115 rooms and known as the “Grand Dame” of South Beach, the Tides underwent renovation and reopened in 1997 with 45 oversized rooms and suites, each with an ocean view.

The hotel is designed to look like an upscale ocean liner, complete with stylish porthole-style windows, and has an elegant, all-white lobby with original Art Deco features, a gourmet restaurant, rooftop swimming pool with bar, an executive meeting room, 24-hour room service, and complimentary wireless Internet access in the lobby.

Guests receive complimentary beach services, including lounge chairs, towels, and umbrellas, and complimentary passes to a nearby health club, two blocks away.
